Dapitan City, Philippines - Get ready for an exciting, more scenic journey between Dapitan City and Siquijor Island, as the "LB Nanay Nene" embarks on its maiden voyage. This licensed leisure vessel which will carry passengers from Lazi Port to Dakak Port and vice versa is set to be officially launched on January 14, 2023 in Lazi Port in Siquijor, together with the return of Unlimited Fun in Dapitan (UNLIFUDAP) Tourism Package.
The arrival of "LB Nanay Nene" marks a significant milestone in the flourishing partnership between Dapitan and Siquijor inspired by the sisterhood agreement between the city of Dapitan and the province of Siquijor.
An agreement was signed by Dapitan City Mayor Seth Frederick “Bullet” P. Jalosjos and Siquijor Provincial Governor Jake Vincent S. Villa on October 12, 2023 at Salagdoong Beach Resort in Siquijor that will strengthen the long-standing relationship between two areas and aims to boost tourism in both regions through collaborative efforts.
Mayor Jalosjos has been a relentless champion for tourism, transforming Dapitan City into a vibrant destination by prioritizing responsible growth, cultural preservation, and community engagement. The city government has also hosted major events like Ironman 5150 Dapitan, a triathlon showcasing the city's stunning landscapes and heritage, and the 2nd Semester FAFA Corps Tour, attracting military delegates from around the globe, has put Dapitan on the international map. Furthermore, the Post-SONA of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Dapitan thrust the city into the national spotlight, highlighting its potential as a international tourism haven.
“Promoting Dapitan to the international tourism market demands more than simply showcasing our captivating landscapes and cultural heritage,” Mayor Jalosjos emphasized. “We must go beyond the stereotypes and develop more innovative strategies and campaigns. We need to collaborate, not compete, and amplify our story to the world.”
“The said sisterhood agreement is not merely about attracting tourists but also about unlocking Dapitan's full economic potential. Tourism is the engine that drives the city's development, creates jobs, and fosters a thriving economy. By attracting both local and international visitors, we invest in our future,” the mayor added.
The South Awaits
Dapitan City, geographically located at the crossroads of Visayas and Mindanao, has transcended its captivating charm to become a critical link in harnessing the southern Philippines' unlimited potential. A trip on the LB Nanay Nene is more than just a ferry ride; it is an intentional journey from Visayan holidays to a colorful discovery in Mindanao's dynamic heart.
Heritage seekers can step back in time and trace the footsteps of Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero, through captivating historical sites like his serene exile home at the Museo ni Rizal sa Dapitan and the Punto del Desembarco de Rizal.
Those who are craving for a cooler escape and take a break from the heat of the sun can find shade at the majestic Snow World, the largest snow park in the Philippines nestled within the Glorious Fantasyland Theme Park. One can slide down icy slopes, build frosty fortresses, and embrace the thrill of a winter wonderland right in the heart of the tropics.
But Dapitan offers more than just a chill. Tee off on lush greens at the Dakak Golf Club, a golfer's paradise boasting breathtaking sea views and challenging fairways. Hone your swing or simply unwind in the serene surroundings.
Dapitan's treasures extend beyond the obvious, offering a unique blend of historical exploration, refreshing escapes, and exhilarating activities.
